This Styled Spring Wedding at VanDusen Botanical Garden Captures Both Whimsy and Romance

AS THE LAST DROPS OF SPRING RAIN evaporate and the first darling buds of May turn their petals towards a blue sky is when VanDusen Botanical Garden truly comes to life. Inspired by the delicate beauty of the season, Cristie Rosling at Umbrella Events planned and produced this styled spring wedding shoot at VanDusen Botanical Garden, while Vancouver-based photographer Caroline Ross captured every frame.

The catering team from Truffles Fine Foods was tasked with creating a feast that was both delicate in appearance but substantial in nature. Rustic platters were artistically piled with an enticing charcuterie selection. By contrast, bite-sized appetizers beautifully arranged on crisp white dishes offered inventive lighter fare.

Under the cotton candy-coloured canopy of a Benishidare Sakura cherry blossom, our bride nibbled Truffles’ sweet selection of handcrafted pastries and macarons in playful colours. Pantone’s colours of the year — rose quartz (pink) and serenity (blue) – were laced throughout the entire shoot and, specifically, in the desserts our team created.

Mismatched tables, antique jewels, and a dreamy five-tier wedding cake from The Cake and the Giraffe were key elements that added a whimsical character to this styled spring wedding. The sweeping greens and limitless canvas of colour at VanDusen Botanical Garden make it one of Vancouver’s most stunning and unique wedding venues. With the entire Truffles Fine Foods team on site, serving a memorable menu to your guests is a piece of (wedding) cake. THE TRUFFLES TEAM HIT ALL THE RIGHT NOTES AS THEY RECENTLY CATERED THREE LIVE NATION CONCERTS AT DEER LAKE PARK

Summertime is synonymous with outdoor concerts and festivals! Live Nation concerts at Deer Lake Park have become a “fan favourite” way to spend a sunny evening with some of the biggest music acts of today. The catering team at Truffles Fine Foods recently had the privilege to cater to three of those events, serving up an inventive and satisfying menu to rock royalty.

ALABAMA SHAKES

On May 28th, blues rock band Alabama Shakes took to the stage with their crew and special VIP guests. To keep the energy going all day long, we provided both lunch and dinner! Some highlights included:

A number of creative sides were also dished up, including Spanish rice, a steamed vegetable medley, beetroot & goat cheese salad, and no shortage of sugary-sweet dessert bars, squares, and homemade cookies.

THE CURE

Three days later, on May 31st, one of Britain’s most beloved rock bands, The Cure, swept into Deer Lake Park for a memorable evening. The band prepared for the show from morning until night, so to ensure that everyone was well fed, we created an eclectic spread of both exotic and local-centric fare.

And endless array of side dishes were also available including a complete breakfast bar in the morning, seared vegetables, assorted soups, a selection of desserts, and an exotic fruit platter.

THE LUMINEERS

Lastly, folk rockers The Lumineers took the stage on June 1st and played through the gloomy weather to a crowd of brave fans. The rain didn’t get anyone down, least of all the Truffles team, as they prepared hearty dishes for the wet day ahead.

Those with a sweet tooth were also satiated at our decadent dessert bar, featuring chocolate ganache tarts, chocolate covered strawberries, and assorted French macarons.
